Plain English. No legalese fog. If anything's unclear, email us — address at the bottom.
Fitbaw Factory ("the app") is a groundhopper tracker for UK football
— men's and women's pyramids. This page explains exactly what data
the app touches, what we do with it, and how to get rid of it.
What we collect
Automatically on first launch:
- An anonymous Firebase user ID. It's a random string. Nobody —
including us — can trace it back to you unless you choose to
sign in.
Only if you choose to sign in (Settings →
Claim your spot → Sign in with Apple or Google):
- The display name you pick (or the default "Guest").
- An email address, if your sign-in provider gives us one. Apple's
"Hide My Email" is fully supported — if you choose it, we only
ever see the relay address Apple generates, not your real email.
Only when you tap "Book in" at a ground:
- Your GPS coordinates at that moment, so we can verify you're
within 500m of the ground (and stamp the visit as "verified" on
the leaderboard).
- The club, date, and your optional rating + note.
Settings you choose:
- Your favourite team, followed teams, and notification preferences.
If you tip via the in-app Tip Jar:
- A local count of how many tips you've left (used to show the
"TOP SUPPORTER" pill at 3+). The actual transactions are between
you and Apple/Google — we don't see card details, billing
address, or anything beyond "a tip happened".
What we DO NOT collect
- We do not track you across other apps or websites.
- We do not run analytics. Firebase Analytics is deliberately
excluded — partly to dodge Apple's tracking prompt, mostly
because we don't want it.
- We never sell your data. Not to advertisers, not to data brokers,
not to sponsors. Never.
- We don't show ads.
- We don't access your contacts, photos, calendar, motion sensors,
or microphone.
Where data is stored
- On your device: most of your data lives in the
app's localStorage and never leaves the device.
- Firebase Firestore (Google Cloud, EU multi-region):
your profile + visit history, only if you've signed in. This is what
syncs your stamps across devices.
The leaderboard
If you've signed in, your display name + groundhopper count
are visible on the public Terrace leaderboard. That's it. No other data
is shared publicly — not your visits, not your locations, not your
email, not your tip history.
Reporting and blocking other users
Tap the ··· button next to anyone on
the Terrace leaderboard to report their display name or badge
if it's offensive, harassing, impersonating someone, or otherwise breaks the
rules. By default reporting also blocks them — they
vanish from your leaderboard view immediately. You can untoggle the block
if you only want to flag the issue.
We review every report within 24 hours. Confirmed offenders
get their display name reset and may be permanently locked out of leaderboard
participation. Reports include only the reporter's user ID, the reported user's
ID, the reason picked, and the moment it was filed — no other personal
data is captured.
Display names are also screened on entry against a list of slurs and
profanity in 30+ variants (with leetspeak / spacing / repetition tolerance).
Names that don't pass are rejected client-side before they ever reach our
servers.
Your rights
- Delete everything: in the app, Settings →
Sign in → Delete my account. This removes all your server-side
data within 24 hours.
- Export your data: email the address below and
we'll send your full visit history as JSON within 7 days.
- Stop the app collecting more: just stop using it,
or delete the app. Local data goes with it.
- Complain to a regulator: in the UK, the
Information Commissioner's Office.
We hope you don't need to, but the right exists.
Children
The app is rated 4+ and contains nothing that's
age-restricted, but we don't intentionally collect data from children
under 13 (under 16 in some jurisdictions). If you're a parent and
spot anything that worries you, email us — we'll fix it.
Changes to this policy
If we change how data is handled, we'll update this page and the
"Last updated" date at the top. Material changes will also be
surfaced in the app's About section before they take effect.
